Baby James was probably born out of wedlock as James Sr. and Mary are enumerated in the 1860 census' with their respective parents. He appears to have died sometime between census. He would probably have been buried at the "Negro Cemetery" in Brushy Fork, but the stones no longer stand there.

    House 655 Family 651 George Manuel household includes a James Stewart age 1. It is hard to tell which household he really goes with since the households are mixed up for the Brushy Fork area. But Mary is probably his mother and she is with her mother and step-father in H 666 F 662:
