Supposely this James was a son of William Sexton and Leah Free...notes on a famiy group sheet submitted by Patricia Patton of Paris,Ill., dated 1981..mentions James death as July 4, 1854, in Monroe Co., IN, nw of Bloomington IN. Notes also mention about two boys orphans being raised called Isaac Sexton & James Sexton in Shelby Co., IN. will of Isaac Sexton/Wm/Wm. Apparently two males are shown in the 1840 census with Hannah, widow of Isaac Sexton, in Shelby Co., IN. who may be the two orphans. When the estate was settled, 1848, Isaac Sexton was dec'd with no heirs, James Sexton was in the army. Other children shown for James and Amy (Durham) SEXTON were: Rebecca Margaret married 1828 Whitley KY., to James Adkins Joel b. Feb 1813 KY., married to Anne Dugger 1835 Greene Co., IN. having 11 children, died 1895 Shelby Co., IN Free Allen b. 1817 Whitley KY., to Eliz. Stafford,widow Mahan Sarah McClellan and Sydney Stinebeck, widow Clark. Allen died 1910 Shelby Co., IN John (W?) Lemuel b. 1821 Whitley Co., KY. married Mary Acuff 1842 Monroe Co., IN. NOTES ARE SO CONFUSING ON THIS FAMILY GR SHEET-I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE RESEARCHING THESE FAMILIES....perhaps someone can straighten some of this up...my ancestor was Fieldon SEXTON, son of a James SEXTON and Mary STATEN of Monroe Co., IN. Perhaps the submitter of this fgs was also asking for help on detangling these families...please e-mail me. Thank You.
