James Semple, only child of James Semple (286), and grandson of "English" Semple, was born August 28, 1838; was in the War of the Rebellion; member of Company "A," 18th Regiment Connecticut Volunteers; prisoner at Libby and Belle Isle; killed September 30, 1885 while in discharge of his duties as mechanic in Chelsea Paper Mills, Greeneville, Connecticut. Married Margaret Coulter (born in Paisley). Issue:S1
