V. 264. James Semple, eldest son of John Semple of Cartside, sold the lands of Cartside to William Barr of Braes and Goldenknows, April 15, 1774, and emigrated to America, July 11, 1774, with a wife and seven children. They are said to have settled in North Carolina, but no trace of them or their descendants have I been able to obtain. Signed, W. W. Semple, Broad Brook, Conn.
