[edit] BiographyJames Rumgay, son of William Rumgay and Margaret Dickson, was born on 23 April 1841 in Easter Lumbenny, Newburgh parish, Fife, Scotland. He was baptized on 6 June 1841 in Newburgh, Fife, Scotland. James appeared on the census of 1841 in the household of his parents at Bighall, Newburgh parish, Fife, Scotland. He appeared on the census of 1851 in the household of his father in Easter Colzie, Abernethy parish, Fife, Scotland. James was a witness at the marriage of his brother,Robert Rumgay, to Ann Coventry on 23 November 1860 in Scotlandwell, Portmoak parish, Kinross, Scotland. James also was a witness at the marriage of another brother, John Rumgay, to Janet Hunter on 13 December 1861 in Saucher, Collace parish, Perth, Scotland. In 1865, James lived in Arnbog, Meigle parish, Forfar, Scotland. James was a ploughman in 1865. He married Jane Murray, daughter of Andrew Murray and Helen Lamb, on 9 June 1865 in Ardler, Kettins, Angus, Scotland, after Banns according to the forms of the Established Church of Scotland. The marriage was witnessed by his brother, George Rumgay, and Margaret Miln. James was a farm servent in 1881.
