[Alamance County_Feb 2006_backup.FTW] James Austin Ross James Austin Ross, 79, died on Sunday, September 1, 2002, at his home. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of the late Nancy Williams Ross. His parents were the late Otis Holt Ross and the late Litsey Isley Ross. Austin was a farmer in the Altamahaw community most of his life and he participated for many years in a local Co-op for farmers that met at Western Alamance High School. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. He was one of the founding members of the A-O Fire Department and a veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving during WW II on the island of Guam as an aircraft mechanic. Survivors include, a Daughter and Son-in-law, Sue Ross Atkins and her husband, Ray of Elon. Grandson, Christopher Ross Aldridge of Burlington and Step Grandchildren, Wesley J. and Jessica R. Atkins both of Elon. Sister, Mrs.. Mary Wilson King of Macon, Georgia. Preceded in death by his wife, parents and 2 brothers, Otis Holt Ross, Jr.. and Luther Wilkins Ross. The funeral services will be held at Bethlehem Christian Church on Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 4:00 PM and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Other times the family will be at the residence, 2228 Gwyn Road, Burlington, NC.
