The Burlington Times-News Sept. 15-2004 Mr. James Anderson Roney Sr.

  MEBANE — Mr. James Anderson Roney Sr., 86, of 2301 Barnett Road, died Monday evening, Sept. 14, 2004, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two years of declining health.
  A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs.. Hazel Swanson Roney, who survives, and the son of the late Henry Baxter Roney Sr. and Carrie Anderson Roney. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
  Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs.. Carolyn R. Turner and husband, George L., of Pisgah Forest, N.C.; a son, Mr. James A. Roney Jr.. and wife, Carolyn, of Mebane; two sisters, Miss Edith Roney of Mebane and Mrs.. Nancy Covington of Fayetteville; a brother, Mr. Henry B. Roney Jr.. of Mebane; four grandchildren, George Turner Jr.., Jeffrey Turner, Carrie Ward, and Jennifer Gwyn; and five great-grandchildren.
  A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Tempe Fussell. Burial to be in Cross Roads Presbyterian Church cemetery.
  The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Roads Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 3302 N.C. 119 North, Mebane, N.C. 27302 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
