Military: Served as a private in Copmanies I and F, 2nd Regiment, Arkansas Calvary Volunteers. Mustered out at Memphis, TN on August 20,1865 Filed for pension, June 20, 1873 <living near Van Buren, Arkansas.> May 5,1898 pension lists him as living in Sallisaw, Indian Territory. He lists 9 children.
James C C Rogers, et al, were the plaintiffs in the Cherokee citizenship case, first heard on March 15, 1888 at Tahlequah, and the appeal heard on June 10, 1897 in Muskogee. James and his family were living at Belmont, Arkansas on March 30, 1888. Family lore has it that James was a United States Marshall at Tahlequeh. |
