James A. Roberts, 61, of Slatington R.2, died Saturday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center. He was the husband of Marie S. (Neff) Roberts.
He was a mechanic for Penn Truck Leasing, Allentown R.8, for five years before retiring last year. Before that, he was a carpenter and a mechanic for various firms in the area.
Born in Heidelberg Township, Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Jacob A. and Anna M. (German) Roberts.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He received the PurpleHeart and a service medal with three bronze stars in 1945.
Surviving with his widow are a son, James D. of Slatington R.3; a sister Rachel, wife of Marvin Harter of Germansville R.1, and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Robert K. Hahn Funeral Home, 1778 Main St., Slatedale. A calling hour will precede the services.
