JAMES BARTON REAVES IS FOUND ON THE 1880 MCNAIRY CO TENNESSEE CENSUS. According to T.S., descendent of Henry Clay Reaves the brother of James B Reaves, the middle name of James is Barton. James Barton Reaves' mother, Sarah Reaves, was a Chreokee Indian. Sarah Reaves' brother, Jasper Reaves, served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Jasper Reaves' discharge papers give this discription of him;"five foot six inches in height, black eyes, dark hair and dark complexioned". James Barton Reaves is found on the 1900 Hopkins County Texas census (misspelled under the surname Reeves) in Justice Precint 3. Justice Precint 3 includes the present day towns of Reilly Springs, Arbala and Shirley. He is also on the 1910 Hopkins County Texas census in Justice Precint 6. Justice Precint 6 includes the present day towns of Como and Pickton. James Barton Reaves probably died between 1910 and 1920 in Hopkins County Texas.
