Will Transcript

JAMES KARR RAMSEY
I James K. Ramsey of the County of Hopkins and State of Kentucky, knowing the uncertainty of all human affairs do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows viz:
1st I want all my just debt to be paid.
2nd I devise that my son James A. Ramsey shall have 71 acres of land (this article is settled) out of the north end of the 100 acres bought from Taylor.
3rd I desire that my son George W. Ramsey shall have 43 1/2 acres that I bought of J. Stanley and owned by W. D. Crow(?) dec'd by ???? 29 acres off of the south end of ??? acres I bought of Taylor.
4th I desire that my son D. F. Ramsey shall have 75 acres of land out of the north end of my home.
5th I desire that my son Leland Ramsey shall have the ballance of my home tract which is about 75 acres.
6th I desire that my two grand children son's of John Ramsey deceased shall have 50 acres out of the north east corner of my home tract which I have heretofore given to my son John Ramsey their father.
I have now divided my land equally according to quantity as I think but David F. Ramsey lot of land has no timber and I wish James and George to furnish David with wood and timber he (David) shall take the timber where they wish. And as my servants are all free I have estimated all my land at 4000 dollars that my daughters may be made equal with my sons.
viz: James is to pay back. (this $500 is paid)
George is to pay back. (this 500 is paid)
David is to pay back 500
H. D. Ramsey and Jno F. Ramsey is to pay back their fathers share $500
making two thousand dollars $2000
which is to be divided between my four daughters viz
Sarah A. Cox is to have $500
Mary Jane Cox is to have 500
Margaret E. James is to have 500
Nancy Green is to have 500
making $2000
I desire that if my presant wife Drucilla should out live me that she shall have and hold all that remains of her property that she owned when we married according to our marriage contract and that she let my children have my property as we agreed.

I now desire that after my death that all my personal property be sold and equally so as to make my daughters have 750 dollars each divided amongst my children.

I wish John W. Cox and D. F. Ramsey to be my executors.

A. B. Leland seems to be weak(?) and absent minded I therefore appoint my executors as his committix(?) if he should become competent let him controll his property if not - then hold it and give it as he needs it

This day the foregoing instrument of writing proporting to be the last will and testament of James K. Ramsey Dec'd was produced to me and in open court and proven by the oaths of A. E. Cox and G. W. Ramsey two subscribing witnesses thereto to be to be said last will and testament of said dec'd which will was duly probated and ordered to be recorded whereupon the same together with the foregoing and this certificate hath been duly recorded in my office this the day and date aforesaid
