Notes from Sherri Tucker, RootsWeb: About 1826, he removed to Sumner County, TN, and later to Jersey County, IL. He was for many years Surveyor for the latter County, and was commonly know as "Judge Potts". He and his wife were among the founders of the Presbyterian Church at Jerseyville. He was one of the Ruling Elders from the organization of the Church until his death. he died April 18, 1857 of pneumonia.He married his cousin.
