James Pirie died May 28, 1852 [sic],aged 40 years, 11 mos. and 20 days. [This source is a transcription and I do not have access to the original. Many other sources (Ancestral File GC7G-4K submitted by a researcher of this and related families that is recognized by me as knowledgable, Daughters of Republic of Texas records) say May 23 and since the difference between a 3 and an 8 is a typical transcription error, I am assuming 23 is correct unless further evidence surfaces. Based on 23 May 1852, the life span indicated here gives a birth date of 3 Jun 1811. I have seen 1805 listed, as well, since his age is given as 45 in the 1850 US Census.]
