James S. Pierce died Friday night at 11:30 at the home of his daughter Mrs. Clarence Duncan 1504 Miles Street, aged seventy-five years. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ed Reinheimer of Tulan, Okla., Mrs Nina Hines, Susanna, Cal., Mrs. Daisy Ladd and Mrs Clarence Duncan of Logansport.

The funeral will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock from the residence of Mrs. Clarence Duncan, 1504 Miles Street, conducted by Rev. E. Richard Edwards of the Ninth Street Christian church. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The funeral will be private.

On the 1880 Cass County Census, James Pierce states his birthplace as Kentucky.

Death certificate states his occupation as Stone Mason and that he died of cerebral apoplexy. - Cass Co. Dept. of Health Book H-21 page 20
