obituary:

"Funeral services for James Oscar Norvell, who died last Wednesday at th is home south of Purdin were held at 2 o'clock, Thursday at the Hasevil le church. The sermon was preached by the Rev. J. W. Drinkard, a Baptist m inister of Laredo. The music was furnished by the Haseville choir. The son gs were 'Beautiful City of Gold', 'Going Down the Valley' and 'No More Goo dbyes.' The pallbearers were Charles Thompson, Hubert Cochranham, Jay Thompson, Jo hn Carter, Ernie McKinsey and Lem Bosely. Mr. Norvell, who was 71 years old, was born in Sullivan county March 17, 1 864. He was married to Miss Maggie Paul Nov. 5, 1889. The only child, a so n, died in infancy. His wife died 11 years ago. Mr. Norvell was a memb er of the Methodist church. The survivors include two brothers, Tom Norvell of Fargon, Okla, and Walt er Norvell, whose address was not learned; one sister, Mrs. Kate Mart in of St. Joseph; also two nieces whom he raised and with whom he made h is home at the time of his death, Miss Opal Cloud of Purdin, and Mrs. Els ia Chapman of Wheeling" 1 2
