    Land Office, Military Warrant No. 7639. To the Principal Survey or of the Land Set apart for the officers and Soldiers of the Commonwealth of Virginia This shall be your Warrant to survey and lay off in one or more surveys for James McWilliams, his heirs or assigns the quantity of Two Hundred acres of Land due unto the said McWilliams, in consideration of his Services as a Private in Armand's1 Legion – Agreeably to a certificate from the Governor & Counsel, which is received into the Land Office Given under my hand in the Seal of the said Office this 13th day November 1834

    200 Acres S/ W. Selden, Reg. L. Off. Va.

    State of Virginia County of Rockingham: SS I James McWilliams of the County and State aforesaid, do upon my oath declare and testify that in the year 1782 I enlisted for the term of three years, and served in General Armand's Corps under the command of Major Shaffner [George Schaffner], Captain Le Bart [Claudius de Bert], Lieutenant Fontabier [?], and Ensign or Cornet Ketland [?] – and continued in the service till the close of the Revolutionary War. I further declare that I have never received a Warrant for the any Bounty Land on the part of the United States nor have I ever transferred my claim to such Bounty Land in any manner whatsoever. Therefore know all men by these presents that I James McWilliams aforesaid do hereby constitute and appoint Alan the line of, of Harrisburg, Rockingham County State of Virginia to be my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name to demand and receive from the Secretary of War of the United States, a Warrant for the quantity of land which may be due to me from the United States. And my said attorney is hereby fully authorized and empowered to constitute and appoint one or more substitutes or attorneys under him for the special purposes above expressed.
    Witness my hand & seal this 5th day of March 1834.
