Will of James McCullough

In the name of God Amen I James Mc Cullough of the County of Harrison and State of Virginia being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be almighty God for the same, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say).
First I give and bequeath unto my beloved & loving wife Rachael Mc Cullough all my Estate real and personal of what ?or necture soever? for and during her natural life.
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Adams five dollars to be paid at the decease of my wife.
I give and bequeath unto my nephew John Mc Coy eight pounds to be paid at the decease of my wife.
I give and bequeath unto my son John Mc Cullough & my daughter Martha (Mathew was written in the will) Blair the one half of Estate that may be remaining at my wife’s decease share and share alike.
Except as I shall otherwise direct, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Linsey Elizabeth Hashe and Catherine Carpenter the remaining half of my Estate at the decease of my wife share and share alike excepting as I shall otherwise order.
Further I give and bequeath unto William Blair my riding saddle.
Furthermore I give and bequeath unto David Carpenter my rifle gun to be delivered to him at a convenient time after my exit.
Furthermore my will is that my beloved wife have the disposal of my Mollato girl Cloe as she may think fit at her death.
Furthermore I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Linsey my Negro girl Poll (now in her possession) for and during the said Mary’s natural life.
I furthermore give and bequeath my silver watch to my son John Mc Cullough ~my silver watch~
Further my will is that my Negro women Darken be set free (if she chooses) at the decease of my wife.
I give and bequeath unto my loving brother George Mc Cullough ten pounds to be paid him at the decease of my wife.
I give and bequeath unto my grandson James Green all that lot or parcel of forty nine acres of land whereon David Carpenter now lives ~ to him and his heir’s signs forever.
I further will that James Arnold to in a reasonable time execute a deed of conveyance unto James Blair my grandson for the sixty acres of land I purchased of said Arnold which I now give unto the said James to his heirs ? ? forever.
My further will is that my wearing approval herby my wife divided among my grandsons of Harrison County share and share alike and at a decent time after my decease ~
and I do hereby appoint my beloved wife Mc Cullough Executioner of my son John Mc Cullough Executor of this my last will and testament; hereby revoking all form of wills by me made in witness where of though hereunto set my hand and seal the twentieth day of September one thousand seven hundred & ninety eight.
