Came to Tennessee in 1828 and settled in Sequatchie Valley where he remained for two years and then removed to Campbell County, Tennessee, where he settled permanently and followed farming as a vocation. He was public spirited and enterprising man and served as a justice of the peace of his county for over 18 yeras. He was a brickmason by trade and erected a large number of brick residencesin Powell's Valley.
