James Lowther signed a petition to include the area between Washington & Tazewell opposite the plantation of William Wards in the mailten (or Maiden) Spring Come thence a direst Course to the Laurel fork Gap, that is, where the laurel fork a branch of the North fork of Holstein brakes through the brushy Mountain; from thence a long the top of Said Mountain to where the main Waggon road Corsses leading from 'Tazewell Court House to Wythe Court House and with Said road to the top of the Warden Mountain in Wythe County, Virginia.
