- Initially settled in Rhode Island? about 1683, where he married Sarah Dungan, daughter of the Rev. Thomas Dungan.
- James Carrell settled in Bucks county about 1700.
- Acquired 100acres in Southampton in 1704 living there until his death about 1730.
- Purchased a tract of land in Warminister from brotherinlaws Thomas and Clement Dungan in 1711
- family traditions identify him as a weaver, in Philadelphia, where he wove linen and linsey-woolsey.
