James Lewis Keffer, 83, of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 from his home. He was born May 19, 1923 at Guinea Mountain, Va. and is the son of the late Christopher Thomas and Mattie Mae Whittaker Keffer. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and served in Korea and Japan. He is survived by one sister, Hazel (Basil) Mustard, Pearisburg; one brother, Junior (Joyce) Keffer, Pearisburg; special nephew, Michael Riggs; special niece, Sissie Vest; and also many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with the Rev. Daren Whitten officiating. Military rites by Giles American Legion Post #68, Narrows VFW Post #6000, Pembroke American Legion Post #311 at Birchlawn Burial Park , Pearisburg with Entombment to follow. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday after 1 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Giles Rescue Squad.
