James E. Jannette , Retired Printer (Jan. 4, 1917--June 18, 1999) BRUSHTON--James E. Jannette, 82, Brushton, died Friday afternoon at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, Plattsburgh, after a long illness. Mr. Jannette was a printer for the former Potsdam Courier-Freeman and retired as a supervisor at Gaylord Bros., Liverpool. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Potsdam, and the Syracuse Printing House of Craftsmen. He was an accomplished organist and enjoyed gardening. Born Jan. 4, 1917, in Potsdam, son of James D. and Almeda Papaw Jannette, he graduated from Potsdam High School and Potsdam Normal School. He married Ethel M. Henderson of Norwood on May 4, 1940, at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. William J. Hamilton officiating. The couple lived in Liverpool for a time. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, James E. Jr.,and Wayne, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Leon (Jamie) Arnold, Nichols; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A half brother, Leon Deans, and sister, Eva MacPherson, died before him. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. George Easter officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop.
