Ethel M. Jannette of Owego

Ethel M. Jannette, 84, affectionately known as Grandma 'Nette', of Owego, New York, formerly of Moira, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2006 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, in Johnson City. She was born on January 30, 1922 in Norwood, New York, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William (Elizabeth Sheets) Henderson. Her parents predeceased her. Along with her husband, her two brothers, Lloyd and Ernest Henderson, predeceased her. On May 4, 1940, she married James E. Jannette at Trinity Episcopal Church in Potsdam, New York, with Fr. Hamilton presiding. James went to be with the Lord on June 18, 1999. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Henderson are her only surviving brother and sister-in-law from Norwood, New York. She has two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Alice Jannette Jr., and Wayne and Jan Jannette, all of Jacksonville, Florida; a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Leon (Jamie) Arnold, Nichols, New York; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. She attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church (Lakeview Chapel) while living in Owego.

Calling hours will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m., with a funeral service following at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, New York. The Rev. Kenneth Lindsey from the Lakeview Chapel will be officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam. Memorials in her name can be to the American Cancer Society or the Christian Missionary Alliance Church (Lakeview Chapel).
