Facts and Events
Oct 5, 2001. Family tradition is that James was born 5 June 1841 in Blackwater, Stisted, Essex, England. I have not been able to prove or disprove this yet, but I have been able to find his christening in Little Totham 17 July 1842 as per the source of the christening record. 15 Jan 2002 1841 British Census for Little and Great Totham (FHL microfilm 0241376) does not list Henry and Mary Ann Hunwick here with their family, even though James was christened here in Jul 1842. Records are very dark or very light. I couldn't find any familiar family surnames to use as a reason for the family being in the area. 2 Feb 2002 Original Death Cert has not been consulted to confirm exact date and place of death. 3 Fdb 2002 James is not recorded as owning any land in the Return of Owners of Land in Essex, 1873 'New Domesday Book' as published by the Essex Record Office. James did not seem to have land in 1873 and would likely not have been enfranchised to vote then with the 1867 Reform Act. He would have had to wait until rural men were enfanchised to vote in 1884. 19 Aug 2002 Aveley Graveyard transcription by film 452530 It 4 " In loving membory of James Hunwick, who died September 4th. 1920, aged 79 years.
