JAMES was known for his interest in genealogy, and had produced a comprehensive listing (in 1978) of the burials in St. Peter's Cemetery. This listing is not generally available in libraries, but Ron Woodward produced a later listing of the Lagro Township cemeteries, which included the names James compiled.

James was a graduate of Urbana High School, and lived in Lagro Township, Wabash County, Indiana.

If this compiler recalls correctly, in a telephone conversation in 2002, James had talked about visiting mutual places in Tuscarawas County, Ohio to do research. It is recalled that he also said he visited Kaiserslautern, in the Rhineland-Palatinate state of modern Germany.

I will always be grateful to him for marking the location of the tombstone of this researcher's great-great-great-grandfather, Daniel Lower, in the Urbana Cemetery.
