James Groom was baptised on 11th February 1816 at King's Walden in Hertfordshire, son of Edward & Ann Groom.
He was married aged about 28 to a widow named Susan Dunham. They settled at Gustard Wood in the parish of Wheathampstead, where they had at least two children together. James worked as an agricultural labourer.
James has yet to be traced after the 1871 census.
