The following obituary appeared in the Houston Chronicle on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005:

James (Jim) Richard Graves, Jr., 63, of Spring, passed away Friday, February 11, 2005. He was a graduate of the University of Texas, class of 1964. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves, as an officer on the Board of Directors for Northland Christian School for 27 years, and as a Conflict Resolution Mediator for Montgomery County. In the field of marine insurance, Jim worked with John L. Wortham & Son, MOAC,. Brown & Root Inc., Texas Commerce Bank, and Crum & Forster, serving as Vice President with Marsh & Mclennan and RISC, Inc. and as Senior Vice President with Energy Risk Managers. A priority for Jim was to serve others in an honest, forthright manner, seeking the best for all parties, employer, client, and employee. Jim has been honored to serve the Bammel Church of Christ and the parents, students, and staff of Northland Christian School for the past 12 years as minister of facilities. Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, DeAnna Graves; son, Christopher and wife Stacy; daughters Dena Kraner and husband Cliff, and Debra Graves; grandchildren, Edie, Annie, Ivan, Oliver, and Brady; sisters Evelyn Rogers and husband Jay, and Loretta White; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 14, 2005 at Klein Funeral Home on Champion Forest Drive. Services will be held Tuesday at 12:00 noon, February 15, 2005 at Bammel Church of Christ, 2700 F.M. 1960 West. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery.
