Marriage record to Cora shows James occupation as a barber. Not confirmed that this is same James Gordon. 1910 census shows James and Cora and Capitola. 1920 census shows James, Virginia and Capitola and James other children. 1930 census does not show Capitola. James granddaughter-in-law, Ruth Gordon knew all of the children of James, but never had heard of Capitola!! Consistent with child of earlier marriage moving on and severing ties with family. James mother and father born in Canada. James lived just across the border from Ontario. Marriage to Cora in Essex, Ontario very plausible.

James drowned when melvin was about 4-per ruth gordon
