Hello Darrell

Harlan and James Russel's mother's maiden name is Stephens. The marriage certificate is on file at the Bath County courthouse in Bath County KY.

Clarence and Martha Gardner are both buried in the Hillsboro Cemetery on Sunset Rd in Hillsboro, Fleming county KY. Unforunately Clarence's grave is at this time unmarked (I am trying to do something about this) and Martha's is marked by a very small stone (one you can hold in your hand) and is hidden under some flowers. Location is by the fence on the right side of the cemetery. The trial transcript that concerns the murder of Clarence is on file at the Fleming County Courthouse and I have that docket number somewhere. I have been there and read the transcript of both trials concerning his death. William Helphenstine was convicted of murder and sentenced to 8 yrs during the first trial. The second trial was granted by the court of appeals due to the dying testimony of Clarence himself because in his testimony he states his opinion as to why Mr. Helphenstine shot him which was ruled inadmissable and a new trial was granted. Mr. Helphenstine was convicted of murder and sentenced to 12 yrs at the second trial.

Harlan and his wife Sadie and James Russel and his wife Katherine are buried in the same cemetery in Hillsboro, KY. Along with James Russel and Katherine's children, James Darnell and Kenneth Earl Gardner.

According to the cemetery records of Fleming County at the Fleming county Library Jasper is buried in the Flemingsburg Cemetery. The grave is labled J.M. Gardner.

Just thought you might like to know.

My father Robert still resides in Fleming County KY not far from Owingsville. My father and myself are the only Gardner's left in KY from James Russel and Katherine (Ishmael) Gardner.

I believe Harlan may still have children living in KY. Last I heard his son Paul was in Fleming County and his daughter Bertha was in Bourbon County KY. Myself I am in Harrison County.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Attached is a pic of my dad in the 4th grade, he was in the Hillsboro Elementary School.
