James E. Fox Sr., 76, of 82 Wood St., Buckhannon, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at 1:30 a.m. at his home in Buckhannon.
Mr. Fox was born May 25, 1926, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late James Russell and Pansia Marie Crumins Fox.
On July 23, 1948, he married Gail G. McPherson Fox, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Constance Jeanne Vaughn and Cassandra Marie Schramm, both of Akron, Ohio; three sons, James E. Fox Jr., Buckhannon, Floyd William Fox and Robert Ray Fox, both of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Nemcovsky, Cleveland, Ohio, and Patricia Leppert, Apple Creek, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He joined the U.S. Marines at the age of 17 and served in World War II and Korea. He was known as one of the China Marines. He retired from the Navy Sea Bees Oct. 9, 1987, with 30 years service. He was a lifetime member of the Buckhannon VFW Post 3663.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. withe the Rev. Jerry Murrell officiating. Interment will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park, Veterans Addition. The Buckhannon VFW Post 3663 and Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion will conduct graveside rites.
