Dad had recently watched a TV program about the Scotch-Irish which described them as Scots who moved to northern Ireland before coming to the colonies. He recalled that his grandmother had told him that the Daileys and Ervins were both Scotch-Irish, but he had thought that meant that the ancestors were the result of a marriage of Scots and native Irish.
