According to his amnesty oath, he came to Louisiana October 6,1852. Martha's Confederate widow's pension application of 1908indicates James is buried at Stewart Cemetery, Walkerville,Columbia County, Arkansas. His would have been among the first 5graves at this cemetery. Martha further states that they hadlived in Arkansas for 1 year and had lived in Webster andClaiborne Parishes for nearly 40 years before that. Died of Swamp Fever
