    James Edmondson was the son of Major David Edmondson (~1751-1821*) and Sarah Paxton (~1753-1828) and grandson of James and Agnes Edmondson. He married Margaret Glasgow on 17 Apr 1823, the daughter of Arthur Glasgow and Rebecca McNutt.

    They had the following known Edmondson children:

    David Alexander, 9 May 1825, died young, below
    Arthur Glasgow, 9 Oct 1829, died young, below
    Rebecca Ann, 9 Dec 1820(John Brown Connevey), below
    James Kerr, 11 Feb 1832, below

    According to DAR app #495560 for Major David Edmondson: his son James Edmondson, was born "8 Jan 1785" in Lexington, VA and died "2 Jan 1833." He married Margaret "Peggy" Glasgow on 17 Apr 1823. She, was born "1 Mar 1793," and died 24 Jun 1873 in Glasgow, VA. (I note the census has her born closer to 1800 since age 50, 60 and 70. I suspect this birth date is incorrect.)

    On the 1850 Lexington, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found the family: (son in law) merchant John B Counevey, 33; (daughter) Rebecca A Counevey, 23; Margaret G Counevey, 2; Anna Counevey, 10/12; (widow) MARGARET Edmondson, 50 and (son) Jas Edmondson, 18, all VA born.

    On the 1860 Lexington, Rockbridge Co.. VA census, I found (son)Deputy Clerk of the Court, James K Edmonson, 28; (James' wife) Emma J Edmonson, 24 and MARGARET Edmonson, 60, all VA born.

    On the 1870 Lexington, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found (son)J K Edmondson, 38; Emma Jane Edmondson, 32; (widow) MARGARET Edmondson, 70 and Alcy Gilbert, 70, all VA born.

    His brother David, Jr., sister Jane (Mrs. Jas Laird), sister Nancy (Mrs. Arthur McCluer) are also buried here. His brother Thomas is believed buried here also. His brother William (1795 - 1866) is buried in Milton, IA, 44380680.

    His son, James Kerr Edmondson, is buried beside James Senior's wife, Margaret at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Son James, Jr. added the cenotaph marker (FaG 110064803) that claims his father and 2 brothers are buried here at Falling Spring Presbyterian Cemetery.

    James Edmondson was born 8 Jan 1785 and died 2 Jan 1833, in Lexington, VA. He married Margaret Glasgow on 17 Apr 1823 and George A Baxter, D D officiated. Their children were included in this record. Texas Ellis County Genealogical Records, Vol. 15, Rebecca Boyce Chapter D A R Waxahachie, Texas, 1720-1961, p 13 & 15, based on the bible of James Edmondson.
