James Edmiston is a probable match to James Edmiston. Although he is not proven to be the son of Robert Edmiston. James Edmiston deeds 70 acres on the Pedlar River in Amherst County, Virginia, in 1773. Sometime between 1785 and 1787 he migrated to Burke County, North Carolina, retaining ownership of the Amherst County property. He made a will in Burke County, January 13, 1792, proven July 1793, giving the Amherst County property to his oldest son Robert Edmiston. He gives the Burke County, NC land he resides on to his grandson Samuel Edmonson (presumably the son of William Edmiston) and mentions daughter Dorathur Dunkin, and his son William Edmiston, and sighned with mark. |
