House and Lot formerly James Dickinson, senior. (Now John M. Sammis' corner at Oyster Bay). 1748, James Dickinson Jr., and Sarah his wife of South Precinct, Dutche Co., N. Y., late of Oyster Bay. sell to Jacob Townsend and William Butler, Double House, etc., being: same as her brother William Underbill sold to her 1732 as part of their father Abraham Underbill's estate, bought of George Townsend in 1712. Hist, of Putnam (formerly part of Dutchess) Co., N. Y., shows mention In 1745 of the names of James. John and Amos Dickinson, holding various official positions In the County, and James as living near Sodom Corners, In Southeast Precinct ; and in 1766 in the town of Carmel the sale by Phillip Phillips of New York, of a tract of land in Dutchess Co. to James Dickinson, witnessed by John Dickinson, and Daniel Wright Issue not traced. |
