Obituary Death Takes James Divis--Well Known City Employee Dies in Local Hospital Mr. James Divis, for the past eight years engaged with the city in its electrical department passed away at the Local hospital Thursday morning, his death following an illness of about two weeks, the last few days of which were spent at the local institution where he received treatment. He was a native of Bohemia, born May 23, 1889, and came to the United States when a mere lad. In his boyhood days he lived with relatives in Jordan township for a few years, when due to harsh and even brutal treatment he was taken from his in-human relatives by county officials and from that time until he reached mature years was care for by his friends, given a good education and later took up electrical studies, won a good position near Houghton, where he continued for fourteen years, and as herein stated for the past eight years in Charlevoix. Mr. Divis was a veteran of the World War and his discharge papers was with him a prized possession. He was an honored member of Charlevoix Lodge No. 282 F.& A.M. Arrangements for his funeral service have not been complete at this time, but it is wholly probable that this will be held under the auspices of his home fraternity. So far as is known there are no immediate relatives of the deceased in this region. About two years ago he had a half brother who was in a government hospital in California, but no letters have been exchanged between the two during the past two years, hence whether or not the half brother survives is a matter of conjecture. ▼References
