Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Mark and Craig
Deeter, Hegins, RD2, who were killed in a one-car crash a mile west of Locustdale. James Edward Deeter, Locustdale, also fatally injured in the crash, will be buried Thursday.
Services for James Deeter, 18, will be from the Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View. A son of Clark T and Fionna (Lauchnor) Deeter, he was born in Hegins Township, August 28, 1952. He attended Tri-Valley High School, and was employed at Bonnie's Ceramic Shop, Hegins.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his paternal grandfather, Raymond Deeter, of Locustdale.
The Rev Nelson Reppert of Locustdale will officiate at the services, and interment will be in the United Methodist Cemetery, Weishample.
Mark Deeter, Jr., 23, and his brother, Craig, 22, were sons of Mark P. and Mary (Beury) Deeter. Both were born in Barry Township and both had attended Tri-Valley High School. The two brothers were army veterans. Mark Deeter was in the service from July 23, 1967 to February 26, 1969, and was discharged with the rank of corporal in the Signal Corps. He received a purple heart for meritorious service in Vietnam.
Craig Deeter was in the Army from February 18, 1969 to February 17, 1971, where he was a sergeant in an armored division. He was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars in addition to the National Defense service medal.
In addition to their parents the brothers are survived by a sister, Mary Ann, wife of Larry Herner, of Hegins RD1; their maternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma Beury, of Hegins RD 2; the paternal grandfather, Raymond Deeter, of Locustdale.
Military services for the brothers will be held Wednesday afternoon from the Buffington Funeral hOme, Valley View, with the Rev Edwin Werner, pastor of St John's United Church of Christ, Ashland RD officiaiting. Interment will be in St John's (Kimmel's) Cemetery.
