Bible Records of James Davis

James Davis (23 December 1793 - 06 May 1872) is the son of James Davis and his wife Margaret Dunlap. James Davis Sr. is believed to have come to the Town Fork area of present day Stokes County, North Carolina with his father William Davis. The family purchased large tracts of land along the Dan River near present day Danbury.

    1851-1892:

    DAVIS, James, Esq., May 5 or 6, 1873. at his residence at Red Shoal, Stokes County, near Danbury, in the 79th or 80th year of his age, after a protracted illness of three months. Mr Davis was a worthy and highly respected citizen. He professed religion at Laurel Hill Campmeeting in August 1849 and attached himself to the Methodist Episcopal Church. (5-15 73, 5-29 73)
