The history of the COCHRAN family was written by Deaf Robert about the time that some members of his family emigrated to Pennsylvania. They settled in what is now Chester County. The original document is in the possession of the Presbyterian Historical Society in Philadelphia. In his writings he mentions several Cochrans who "came" to Pennsylvania, rather than "went" indicating he may have been in PA when he wrote his later documents. His family dates all come from the manuscript.
John, the fourth son of James, per the Old Cochran Manuscript by Deaf Robert, was married to Margaret Elder, and they had 10 children he claimed: five sons and five daughters all named as his first wife's children. Sarah Brenton, his second, wife, bore him two: John and Rebecca.
