Specialist Five James L Coble, 27, son of Mr and Mrs Lonnie J Coble, Route 2, Snow Camp, has received the Army commendation Medal while serving with the 588th Engineer Battalion near Tay Ninh, Vietnam.

Spec Coble earned the award for meritorious service as a heavy equipment operator in the battalion's Company B.

. . . The 27 year-old specialist entered the Army in September, 1967, completed basic training at Ft Bragg, and was stationed at Ft Leonard Wood, Mo, before arriving in Vietnam in February 1968.
