(Medical):Probably a blood clot that resulted from an automoblie accident 2 weeks prior to his death. James served as a rifleman with the U.S. Army during World War II, having been engaged in five major battles including the Battle of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded five Battle Stars, the World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, European Theater Campaign Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal.

He was employed by Ludlow Composite as a special mat cutter, retiring in 1986 after 40 years of service. After retirement, James continued to work as a security guard for TRW/Kelsey-Hayes for 20 years.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and a lifemember of the Fremont VFW. He loved gardening, his fruit trees, working on cars and birds. He was a 1938 graduate of St. Joseph High School.
