James F. Brown VIRGINIA BEACH
James "Jimmy" Frank Brown, 80, passed away Sept. 20, 2005 at his home. Born in Dante, Va., the youngest of 11 children, he was a Navy veteran of World War II and a Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jimmy retired as a management analyst with civil service. He was a member of Community Methodist Church and was active in the Navy Veterans DE-440 reunions. Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years, Katherine W. Brown; three children, Tim Brown and his wife Susan of Westmoreland, Kan., John Brown and his wife Deborah of Alexandria, Va., and Mary Ellen Doyle and her husband Mike, currently of Annapolis, Md.; a sister, Edith Dellinger; and five grandchildren, Andy Tinkle, Billy Brown, Patrick Doyle, Karl Brown and Katie Doyle. A graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery in Colerain, N.C. with the Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice, 5040 Corporate Woods Drive No. 150, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Altmeyer Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
