- Some sources, such as Source:Genealogical and personal memoirs relating to the families of Boston and eastern Massachusetts (14610), p. 3:1589, suggest that Elizabeth Tarbell married James Bennett, s/o John and Mary Bennett, b. Charlestown 31 May 1666. This James would be 10 years younger than his wife and married at age 15, so this is probably incorrect. Source:Genealogical and family history of the state of New Hamphire : a record of the achievements of her people in the making of a commonwealth and the founding of a nation, p. 1:375, says "There is some error in the record as given by Wyman [i.e., Source:The genealogies and estates of Charlestown, Massachusetts, 1629-1818], for James was probably not married at the age of fifteen", indicating those such sources may simply be following Wyman's lead. Source:Elizabeth (Alden) Pabodie and descendants, p. 25, shows this James Bennett m. (1) Ruth Rogers, m. (2) Mercy Simmons, which seems to be a better match, so the James Bennett who married Elizabeth Tarbell is probably not s/o John and Mary Bennett of Charlestown.
