This site has a list dated 1783 and James Barley's name appears on it, along with other names known to associated with his family. These people were living at Kentucky forts and captured by the British and Indian allies. They were badly treated and put on a forced march to Detroit, and from there to Canada. Captain Dalton later arranged for their release.
This may not be the same James Barley, who was the husband of Sarah Wiseman. The marriage information in my files states the marriage was 25 May 1789, Rockingham County, Virginia
Sarah Wiseman was the daughter Isaac Wiseman and Elizabeth Davis. She was the third oldest of 13 children born to them and began her humble life in Berks County, Pennsylvania. James Barley and Sarah Wiseman were the parents of about 11 children. James was said to pass away in Logan County, Kentucky, but Sarah later died at Kerrs Creek, West Virginia.
