[From Barry Palmer, 2 Feb, 2006 My great-grandfather James Thomas Bailey was born on 17th February 1861 at the Greengate district of Salford. He was the son of railway porter Robert Bailey and Mary Ann Cuthbertson who had moved to Salford from the Clitheroe area. At the time they lived at 33 Rosamund Street, Salford. In 1861 he is living at Salford with his parents and sisters
8 year old Mary Ann (185? Salford) and
5 year old Lucy (1856, Salford).

In 1871 James Thomas is living at Salford with his parents and brothers and sisters Elizabeth (1868, Salford), Francis M (1851, Manchester), Hannah (1866, Salford), Mary Ann (1853, Salford), Robert (1864, Salford).

In 1881 20 year old railway clerk James Thomas Bailey is living at 8 Calder Street, Salford with his widowed mother Mary Ann Cuthbertson and brothers and sisters
