FORMER RESIDENT KILLED BY AUTO- James Ault, 86, of Aroma Fatally Injured When Hit by Car Saturday Night.

James Ault, 86, of Aroma, former Elwood resident, was killed almost instantly at 8 o'clock Saturday night when he was struck by an automobile driven by Howard Richwine, of near Perkinsville. The aged Aroma resident was walking along the road to a nearby store operated by his nephew, Edward Ault, when hit by the machine. The automobile was ascending a small hill and the driver said he did not see the pedestrian until too late to avoid striking him. Mr. Ault was walking toward the car. The body of Mr. Ault was thrown over the hood of the car. He suffered a fractured skull and a broken leg. He died within a few minutes of the accident. Born in Hamilton County- The accident victim was the son of William and Martha Ault and was born in Hamilton county. December 12, 1851. He was united in marriage to Harriett Edwards in 1873. She died in 1927. He resided here several years, but recently had been making his home at Aroma with a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sophia Ault. Surviving are: a son, Dayton Ault of San Diego, Calif. and a brother, Isom Ault of Aroma. There are three grandchildren. The body was removed to the Copher and Fesler Funeral Home and prepared for burial. Funeral services were conducted at the Aroma M.E. Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Mr. Johnson in charge. Burial followed in the Aroma cemetery. Hamilton county authorities who investigated the fatal accident, indicated that the motorist would not be held responsible.
