James ALSTON (1725-1778) married Marion MILLER, daughter of John Miller of Westerton (Burke’s Commoners, genforum). James married Marrion 21jun1761 at Glasgow (IGI). James was son of John Alston of Overhall and later Muirburn and Isobel Hamilton, who married in 1710; Isobel was daughter of George Hamilton of Browncastle (Old country houses of the old Glasgow gentry, Craighead article). A relative, John Patrick Alston of Muiburn (b. 1816) married Mary Anne, daughter of William Hamilton of Northpark. Alston St. and Miller St. in Glasgow are named after their families.
