The middle initial looks like a 'T' in the 1870 and 1880 census', but looks like an 'F' in the 1860 census. In the 1880 census he has his own household, but is only one or two families away from his mother Mary. James is married to Elizabeth in the 1880 census, and she is 22 years old like him, and from Kentucky.
