Jack Altenhof was the first born Canadian of his family. He attended school to grade 8, spent that summer working on boats travelling through to the St. Lawrence seaway, then tried high school for half of a morning and decided to start working. For many years he and his brother John and their friends worked out of their parent’s garage fixing motors, etc., until Jack and John started J & J Tool and Mold in 1951. Jack was a pilot and fisherman, and shared a fly-in only cabin for fishing with John 100 miles north of Wawa, Ontario.
