Jacob served in the Civil War. Company E, 22nd regiment, U.S. Colored Troops, infantry. Enlisted December 24, 1863 mustered out October 16, 1865.
In 1850 Jacob lived in Martic township, in the home of Rob Morris, along with his mother Ruth Sister Harriet and William Woods age 22.
